I Veroni Vermentino
Often overlooked in the Tuscan wine landscape are the genuinely unique and delightful white wines that can be found here. One of our favorites is made from Vermentino. Complex flavors of nectarine and pear are tied together neatly on the complex yet refreshing spice filled finish. It pairs nicely with shellfish like clams, crabs, and lobster and boldly flavored fish, and let us not forget the “other” white meat.
It’s easy to think of Spanish wine in broad strokes; what comes to mind most often are big, bold reds, but travel to “Green Spain” and the region of Rías Baixas and you will discover the truly amazing white wines made from Albarino. Croque is one of the best, with clean, bright flavors of lemon, grapefruit and lychee and a gentle hint of native spice on the balanced finish. Enjoy with tuna tartar tostadas, clam ceviche or pan-seared scallops with chorizo and corn.
When the topic is Bordeaux, it is always the great red wines of this historic region in France that come to mind, but the white wines that are made here should not be overlooked. They are filled with a unique style and character that make them hard to resist. Maison Sichel has crafted Sirius from two grapes that thrive here, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, and the result is a succulent wine with alluring citrus and peach flavors with a hint of honey and pineapple on the racy finish. Partner it with seafood fettuccine, pork cutlets in a cream sauce or an assortment of sushi rolls.
A Barolet Bourgogne Blanc
The purest expression of Chardonnay is born and raised in the hallowed soils of France’s Burgundy region, where it thrives in the ideal conditions. A bright and crisp wine with delicious apple and apricot flavors and a textured finish that has the right hints of toast and spice. Perfect choice for a simple roast chicken and rosemary roasted red potatoes.
90+ Pinot Noir Lot 179
If you like well-balanced Pinot Noir with the right amount of acidity and ripeness, along with hints of oak and spice, California is your spot. Hints of blueberries and raspberries are backed by notes of flowers and spice. This easy drinking Pinot Noir is no wallflower. Perfectly balanced and fresh, pair this wine with grilled salmon and red peppers or sautéed chicken with rosemary and thyme.
Spineto Maremma Toscana
Located in Southwestern Tuscany, Maremma was once the land of bitterness and rebellion. Today it is is the destination for character filled wines that offer great value and a unique style. Made from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this little gem is packed with flavors of black cherry and berry with hints of baking spices on the balanced finish. Pair it with chicken piccata and parmigiano-reggiano-crusted pork chops.
Fog Mountain Merlot
Fog Mountain’s California Merlot was produced from carefully selected Merlot grapes grown throughout California that practice sustainable agriculture. This Merlot offers dark red fruit notes with a touch of bay leaf and pepper. This medium bodied wine presents flavors of cherry pie, raspberry and strawberry with hints of vanilla and cinnamon upon the finish. Its medium length and soft mouthfeel make this wine immediately enjoyable with dishes of grilled lamb chops or grilled turkey tips.
Fisch Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Cabernet Sauvignon is a small, thick-skinned grape that is easily adaptable and thus grown in many regions around the world. When we think about high quality, consistent vintages, and highly structured Cabernet
Sauvignon, we always look to the Napa Valley. Fisch is full bodied and elegant with flavors of black raspberries and boysenberry jam and hints of toffee and vanilla on the finish. It’s the perfect pairing for a grilled bone-in rib eye with portobello mushrooms, seared ahi with wasabi or a hearty winter root vegetable casserole.
